Dred African Barber Shop was founded in 2018 with a simple but powerful mission: bring world-class grooming to the Bronx, rooted in the warmth and authenticity of African barbering traditions.
What started as a single chair in a small storefront has grown into a thriving shop with five skilled barbers serving hundreds of loyal clients every week. That growth didn't happen by accident it happened because we never compromised on the things that matter: skill, respect, and genuine care for every person we serve.
Our founder, Marcus Johnson, learned to cut hair in his uncle's shop in Ghana before moving to New York. He brought with him not just technical mastery, but a philosophy: every client deserves full attention, patience, and a cut that makes them feel like the best version of themselves.
